Chapter 7 Season 3 isn't just the biggest content update of the year — it comes with the most substantial overhaul to Fortnite's competitive infrastructure in recent memory. Power Rankings are launching, Ranked is getting a new top tier, the FNCS schedule has been reshuffled, and the Global Championship is moving dates. Here's everything competitive players need to know.

Power Rankings — Live June 5

Epic launched Power Rankings on June 5 — a single global leaderboard that aggregates a player's best competitive results across Battle Royale and Reload into one universal skill number.

Your Power Ranking is calculated from:

  • Your 20 best tournament results across Battle Royale and Reload
  • Your seasonal Ranked tier in both modes
  • Result recency, event difficulty, and opponent strength — tougher events and stronger opponents give a bigger boost

The leaderboard updates weekly. You can track your global standing, share your rank, and follow other players directly through the Power Rankings page.

Initial ratings pull from each player's BR and Reload tournament results over the past two years. Players with fewer than 20 events enter an Initial Rating Period, where their PR adjusts as they compete more.

Importantly, there's no ratings risk: strong results improve your PR or replace an existing Top 20 result, while weaker finishes won't directly lower it. Power Rankings also decay over time to keep the leaderboard current:

  • 0–180 days: Results keep 100% of their value
  • 180–720 days: Results gradually lose value
  • 720+ days: Results no longer count toward your PR

Seasonal Ranked resets may also temporarily reduce your PR as you climb back up each season.

New Rank: Unreal Legends

Season 3 introduces Unreal Legends, a new tier sitting above Unreal for the best players in the game. To earn it you need to hit all three of the following simultaneously:

  • Reach Unreal Rank
  • Hold at least 2,500 Skill Rating
  • Place in the Top 500 on the Unreal Leaderboard

Drop below any single requirement and you lose Unreal Legends status until you reclaim it. It's the most demanding rank Epic has ever put in the game and is designed to give the absolute top tier of players a visible distinction from the broader Unreal pool.

New Ranked Reward: Axe of Unreal

Starting Season 3, reaching Unreal for the first time unlocks the Axe of Unreal — a progressive reward that gains new tiers every time you reach Unreal in a future season. Battle Royale and Reload each have their own Axe to unlock separately, so dedicated Reload players have their own progression path.

Other Ranked Changes

Skill Rating is now preserved through resets. When ranks reset each season, your Skill Rating carries over, meaning matchmaking can place you against similarly skilled players right away rather than starting from scratch.

New in-match progress visuals arrive in Season 3 — the post-match screen will now show exactly how your placement and eliminations impacted your rank, so you can see where points are actually coming from.

Tournament eligibility is also changing later this year to factor in both your current rank and your previous season's rank. Whichever is higher will determine your eligibility for the following season's tournaments — so a strong finish before a reset still counts toward your access.

FNCS Schedule Changes

The biggest calendar shift: the 2026 Fortnite Global Championship has moved to September 26–27 in Antwerp, Belgium. Epic says the updated date aligns with the next Battle Royale Season arriving at the end of summer.

FNCS Major 2 has also moved up. The updated schedule:

  • FNCS Major 2 — starts July 18, Finals on August 1–2. Top 25 Duos earn spots at the Global Championship
  • FNCS Global Championship Last Chance (replaces FNCS Major 3) — starts August 3. Determines the final 10 Duos to round out the Globals lineup
  • FNCS Solos Tournament — new standalone online tournament in October 2026, after Globals. Players compete for regional Battle Royale crowns

Season 3 Tournament Schedule

Beyond FNCS, here's what's on the competitive calendar for Chapter 7 Season 3:

  • FNCS Divisional Cups — players are seeded by prior performance; Division 1 is required for Major 2 eligibility and cash prizes
  • Reload Elite Series Qualifier 4 — the final qualifier for the Reload Elite Championship at the Esports World Cup in Paris, France
  • Solo Victory Cups — cash prizes for Victory Royales in Solo format
  • Performance Evaluation Cups — resumed June 7
  • FNCS Community Cup — July 31, celebrating FNCS Major 2
  • More Zero Build tournaments — Epic confirmed expanded ZB event support this season
  • PlayStation Cups — exclusive PlayStation tournaments throughout the season
  • Ranked Cups — Ranked-based tournaments continue all season
  • Mobile Series — resumed June 12
